Why Is This Happening

QuoteMarksIn the wake of the latest terrorist attacks in Beirut and Paris, the Syrian refugee crisis, racial and random gun violence here in the US, and other global human catastrophe, I think and feel so deeply about our world in fear and conflict. The acting out of such aggression.

Questions that plague me: Why is this happening? Are we supposed to learn something? If so, what is it? If there is a God, why does he/she/it allow this? Is there really a reason for it all? Are “people really still good at heart” like Ann Frank believed?

I know, lots more questions and few answers.

The next few Clinician’s Corner newsletters will focus on this aggression and violence, its clinical impact and hopefully provide resources that support our questions and quest for solutions.

Picture1 I introduce you to Hedy Schleifer.

Hedy has been an inspiration, teaching me about conscious, intimate connection and how we, one relationship at a time, heal wounds to create peace. I offer you her Ted Talk and website to explore. (Ted Talk is available on the website)  www.hedyyumi.com

Excerpt from Hedy’s bio:

"…Hedy travels extensively throughout the world bringing her passion and expertise in the “art of relationships” and “conflict dissolution,” to many settings, spanning the mental health, healthcare, religious, educational and corporate communities. Hedy currently bases her work with couples and her trainings on an integrative approach inspired by the philosophy of Martin Buber, as well as a variety of relational methodologies including Imago Relationship Therapy, Appreciative Inquiry, Re-evaluation Counseling, and Relational Neuro-biology. She counsels, supervises, and trains psychotherapists worldwide, and together with her husband Yumi, conducts workshops for couples in over 16 countries. Hedy believes that world peace begins with the human family, and can best be achieved by creating strong, committed, and growing partnerships.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart, I send love, light, and healing to our brothers and sisters around the world who are experiencing the tragedy of war, genocide, terrorist attacks, and racially motivated violence.

Ponder This:

An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind. - Mahtama Ghandi

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. - Mother Teresa
