LCSW LISAC BCETS CP

Meet Karen Carnabuuci, MSS, LCSW, TEP

It was 1989. I was a naïve, yet eager, recent MSW graduate searching for meaning and fulfillment in my profession. If therapy was just about talk and allowing adolescents to smoke cigarettes in session to keep them coming to therapy, I wasn’t interested.

I had moved myself to Pennsylvania for a six-month internship at the Caron Foundation’s 5 1/2-day residential program for ACOA’s and dysfunctional families. (It is now called Breakthrough.) I was thrilled to be embarking on learning and actually doing experiential therapy. Being a frustrated amateur actress, singer and comedian, it was right up my alley.

I came upon this woman. Her name was Karen. She was also here for an internship and residency—a former journalist reinventing herself. Her bright smile, infectious laugh and great wisdom attracted me immediately. We became fast friends and colleagues. I came to trust her implicitly both in-and-out of facilitating group together.

Fast forward to 2014, ASGPP national conference. Sitting with Karen, I thought, “We both traveled our own path since Caron. She, to train with Zerka Moreno, the co-developer of psychodrama, receiving her Trainer, Educator, Practitioner status; and I, moving to Tucson, and now, after 25 years, studying for my psychodrama certification exam.”

It was so special to see her and spend a bit of time reconnecting. I was in awe of all Karen had accomplished, including publishing professional materials and being a systemic constellation practitioner. This form of work intrigued me. I have always been passionate about knowing more about my clients’ and my own ancestral histories. In particular, how traumatic stress and strength-based resources are transmitted through the generations. Her smile and laugh brought out the same joy and trust as it had way back when.

Karen is now my main clinical consultant and teacher of systemic constellation work.  Her wisdom and playfulness abound. (Click here for more of what constellation work is http://www.realtruelife.com/constellation-work.html.)

So, it is with great enthusiasm I introduce you to Karen Carnabuuci, MSS, LCSW, TEP and invite you to join us for
